Foo Fighters, fronted by Dave Grohl, has kept the fire alive for modern rock for over 30 years now. The group recently played impromptu pop-up shows at random, smaller venues across the country, performing with new drummer Ilan Rubin.

On Sunday morning, the band announced that it would perform one of those very pop-up shows on Monday at the Nile Theater.

Rubin performed in Bakersfield in 2017 at a surprise show alongside Nine Inch Nails at the Rabobank Arena, marking that band’s first performance after a three-year hiatus.

Toward the end of the Foo Fighters’ set at the Nile Theater on Monday evening, Grohl asked the audience whether they preferred waiting in line for tickets in person or waiting in front of a computer.

Considering that the ones who loudly agreed with the “standing in line” option were those who ended up getting their tickets, choosing “in person” was the obvious choice.

In 2023, in the week leading up to the release of the album But Here We Are, Foo Fighters played their first major shows and treated fans to a cover of the Puddle of Mudd song ‘Blurry’.

During their headline performance at the Sonic Temple Festival, in between bits and pieces of tracks like ‘March of the Pigs’ by Nine Inch Nails, frontman Dave Grohl launched the band into a version of ‘Blurry’ by Puddle of Mudd.

The 1990s group had been known for their post-grunge sound with hits like ‘She Hates Me’ and had also gone viral for Wes Scantlin’s rendition of Nirvana’s ‘About A Girl’ on SiriusXM.
