Queens of the Stone Age ended their show in Madison, Wisconsin early on Tuesday night, 7 songs before the show was expected to end. Fans were shocked, confused, and disappointed, and they wrote about the bizarre premature ending on the QOTSA Reddit. Many said they were enjoying the performance until it ended.

I was behind the sound team. The park rangers showed up before the sun went down to check the noise level. They requested at one point that it be “turned down” before right before “domesticated animals”.

After that song it went to hell.

This is why I think Josh was yelling “fuck” during a song instead of singing the lyrics to the song.

I heard from a local bartender that some locals may have been complaining about the sound even before the ordinance took affect.

That being said josh was fucked up tonight, but was in pretty good voice overall so I’m not sure.

It was kind of an odd show. The venue had a gated off VIP area near the front which was kind of sparse so a lot of people were a bit further back. Then it was an early show on a Tuesday and the crowd wasn’t super lively. It was downtown in an outdoor venue so I think they had to adhere to some noise restrictions. Then on the 2nd or 3rd to last song Josh’s mic cut in and out, he seemed to get frustrated/swore a lot and they rushed through the rest of the set.

Then it looked like they were going to an encore. The camera crew was still set up, no crew going on for like 10 minutes, and then the lights turned on and it just didn’t happen. My suspicion was Josh got real frustrated and pretty drunk. He was definitely hitting a wrong note or two near the end there, but who knows.

I was standing by the camera crew, and they were definitely confused as to what was going on, and after a few minutes, the one did the hand cutting his neck motion to someone. Definitely seems like they planned to do an encore but something happened (they also didn’t end with A Song for the Dead).

Yeah, I was in that front circle area and left to take a piss and grab a few beers, on my walk back the stadium lights came on and the show was over, 9:23 when I checked my phone to text to my gf up front “wtf?”. Very dissapointing.

I’ve never had such blue balls from a show in my life.

Whatever happened tonight in Madison, it was painful to have it end the way it did. Even the crew looked incredibly confused. After the set Queens delivered, it’s a shame we couldn’t see the encore they were supposed to have. I’m bumming. HARD.

Josh looked rough, made a lot of mistakes and admitted at one point he was drunk. They shaved seven songs off the setlist, including the entire encore.

Yeah, it didn’t hit me until I saw the post on here of the actual set list. So disappointing. And yeah, it was what… after the second song that he said he was “already sh*tfaced”…? I know he was missing some notes here and there, but I thought they still put on an awesome show. That’s just me. I’ve already seen people saying otherwise, but that’s why I was so disappointed about the encore. They completely flipped the script of their recent set list trend tonight and it was a lot of fun to watch. Then it ended with no real ending. They walked off without saying a word, with the expectation they were coming back out.
