During one of Prophets of Rage’s protest performances in Cleveland yesterday during the Republican National Convention, guitarist Tom Morello said he wanted to torture Republicans with Rage Against The Machine music since the Bush administration had the military use Rage Against The Machine music to ‘torture’ terrorists in Guantanamo Bay. The band also went on a ‘End Poverty Now’ march.
Morello said, “Thank you for coming out today with your joy and your militancy. As soon as this next song is over, we Prophets of Rage, and you, are going to march for the End Poverty Now march, on that street right over there. We’re going to play one more jam, then we’re going to go over there, and you’re going to go over there, and we’re going to let those motherfuckers at the RNC know that we’ve had enough of their bullshit.
This song in particular was used by the Bush administration to torture prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, and in black sites overseas. This is our revenge, we’re now going to use this song to torture those sons of bitches at the RNC, with your help.”
The band then played Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name Of.”
