Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea just revealed why he rejected the idea of having John Frusciante and Josh Klinghoffer play side by side in a two guitar lineup, similar to when Klinghoffer was a touring rhythm guitarist for RHCP in 2007. Red Hot Chili Peppers recently revealed a drug ‘worse than heroin.’

One fan wrote on Twitter, “We want Frusciante AND Klinghoffer in the band!!!”

Another wrote, in a twee that Flea liked, “It seems an egregious error to delegate Mr. Klinghoffer to rhythm guitar duties with Fru in the band. A slight to both men and their abilities. Besides, he has things he wants to explore with his own band. Of course that’s just my humble opinion.”

Josh Klinghoffer was asked on SiriusXM’s Volume West about a possible two guitar lineup. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.

“I was going to make some joke about socks coming in pairs. I would say that’s a question for those guys. Since I didn’t see this coming, and I didn’t have a vote in this, obviously that’s for them. I think the band, not to say that there wouldn’t be nice things created in that situation, but I think the band has always had this great sort of equal split of the instrumentation. It’s very balanced, and I would be very nervous that it wouldn’t be the case.”

He said about social media feedback since his solo album release and firing, “I don’t look myself, I learned that lesson. I’ve never been a big fan of social media stuff, but when I joined the band I learned very quickly, and made a rule for myself, you can’t look. Even when I put out this Pluralone record, I was looking around one night, and you see 10 wonderful supportive things, and you see one person, and I’m thinking about it today. That was two months ago.” Josh Klinghoffer recently discussed his past drug use.
