Former The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus guitarist Elias Paul Reidy shared the first 2018 photo of reclusive former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante on Instagram. Frusciante discussed his life and career in the Chili Peppers with Reidy.

He wrote, “Red jumpsuit Apparatus meets the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Got to chat with John Frusciante earlier today from the Chili Peppers. What a story this guy has. One of the greatest. #johnfrusciante #eliasreidy #redhotchilipeppers #redjumpsuitapparatus #rocknroll.”

Frusciante left the Chili Peppers in 2008, and has not toured or done an on camera interview since then. He has released experimental electronic records and done occasional print interviews in the last decade.

A fan claimed earlier this year that he spoke to Frusciante in December 2017, and he expressed an openness to possibly returning to the Red Hot Chili Peppers someday.

“I asked if he would go back to the Chili Peppers one day, I said in fear, because if he did not like it he would melt everything, and I did not want to sadden him either. But he answered!

He said that destiny made him fall in love with other things that made him distance himself from a Rock Band, but in the end he completed that, and one day he might come back. He just thinks it’s still far from happening, but it’s a possibility for one day maybe.”
