Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer recently revealed that he was recovering from a ‘bad cold’ when he met Bruce Springsteen’s band at the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Eric Clapton recently made a painful Bruce Springsteen revelation.

Klinghoffer told American Songwriter, “After the ceremony? You know, I honestly don’t remember. I’ll have to ask my parents. I do remember seeing Little Steven Van Zandt in the elevator going back to my room that night and I gave him some love for his induction of all the sidemen that night. I was also just getting over a bad cold.”

He said about playing with RHCP for 10 years, “I learned to follow my instincts more. I always have, to a degree. But always being younger than everyone around me, I think I often would defer to people more than I should. Then I would get annoyed when things didn’t run efficiently. I think I have a broad consideration of things in front of me and I know now to listen to myself more.”

A Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist’s ‘younger girlfriend’ was just revealed. Thkt6475 recently posted on the RHCP Reddit about John Frusciante’s work with Duran Duran.

“I don’t really see it mentioned here and thought it would be more relevant now than ever before due to his RHCP comeback.

He featured in 4 tracks: What are the chances? Butterfly girl. The Universe alone. Northern lights.

I think his playing is great in all these songs, he’s more evident in “Butterfly girl”, he has some breakthrough bending guitar solos, at times sounding like Robert Fripp with the octave jumping, you can also hear faint rapid trills. He also sounds amazing in the chorus, with another octave jumping riff, the outro solo is what Frusciante is all about, reminds me of his playing in the outro of his black knights song ‘scrol.’

It does sound to me like he’s playing an SG or the other custom humbucker guitar he’s spoke of before (can’t remember the name). His soloing (especially in “universe alone”) sometimes gets lost in the mix, but only really because he’s playing something very fitting for the other instruments, and not going off on his own.”
