Red Hot Chili Peppers announce future plans
Red Hot Chili Peppers have been taking a break from touring and recording for the last year after the conclusion of their Unlimited Love tour, which saw the return of guitarist John Frusciante. Anthony Kiedis announced today on SiriusXM that the band are starting work early on a new Red Hot Chili Peppers album. Alternative Nation transcribed Kiedis’ remarks.
Kiedis said, “We weren’t supposed to be thinking about making new music yet, according to [business people].”
“But every now and then, you don’t care about what you’re supposed to be doing, and you hear something in your head, and you make a call to a friend.”
Anthony said John Frusciante seems very inspired creatively right now.
“I feel like the flame has been lit in John early on in the cycle. The new wet sands are out there, starting to form.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses new albums coming
Red Hot Chili Peppers aren’t the only legendary band formed in the 80’s with a new album coming, as Slash has announced a new Guns N’ Roses release will eventually come out. In a new interview with Guitar World, Slash hinted that a new Guns N’ Roses album is in the works.
“There’s so much material at this point – it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and f*cking get into it,” he said. “But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time, and we’re going to do this.’ Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart.”
Slash continued: “It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, it’s off and running.
“So it’s coming. I know it’s coming because everybody is thinking about it. It’ll just happen when it happens.”
Guns N’ Roses have not released a full-length album since 2008’s “Chinese Democracy,” while neither Slash nor bassist Duff McKagan have performed on a full-length GNR record since their 1993 studio album “The Spaghetti Incident?”
