Sammy Hagar Addresses Bad Bunny Remark After Super Bowl Watch Party

Sammy Hagar has responded to fan concern after a comment he made about Bad Bunny in a Super Bowl-related video led to worried messages online. The former Van Halen frontman clarified that his remarks were meant positively, while also praising the halftime performance.

After posting footage of an acoustic performance from a Super Bowl watch party at his home, Hagar said Bad Bunny asked him to “warm the crowd up” because he was “a little nervous,” and it was said that a fan then questioned what he meant and hoped it reflected “nothing but love for the Latin community.”

Hagar replied directly in the comments, saying it was “100% love for the Latin community,” adding that he lives in Mexico and loves Puerto Rico. In the same thread, he also agreed with another fan that the halftime show was “a fun fricking halftime,” saying Bad Bunny “knows how to throw a party.”

The exchange is the latest example of Hagar engaging quickly with audience reaction during a period of frequent public appearances and online updates. He has also spoken candidly in recent months about the realities of performing later in life, including his description of the challenges of being an “elderly rock star” while remaining active.

Hagar’s clarification underlined that he intended the story as a friendly anecdote rather than a slight, and it highlighted how closely musician comments are scrutinised across platforms. With Bad Bunny continuing to draw a global audience and Hagar remaining a high-profile rock figure, the moment shows how quickly a casual remark can prompt a broader conversation about intent and cultural respect.
