We’ve got some news about Sammy Hagar. At 77, he’s still tearing up the stage, but he’s also dropping hints that his days of belting out hits might be numbered.

In a recent interview with Audacy Music, Hagar opened up about his future in music.

“I have to  [go to ’till the end]. I’ve made this commitment to my fans,” Hagar said. “I’ve taken them on a journey and asked them to accept me as who I am. They follow me around the world. I can’t drop them off someplace. I’m going as long as I can.”

“But trust me, the day I stand on stage and can’t sing and can’t perform the way I need to then I will have to quit,” he continued. “I’ll be forced to quit. I won’t quit, but I may be forced to quit someday.”

That’s some heavy stuff. But don’t panic just yet. Hagar isn’t hanging up his mic tomorrow. In fact, he’s currently in the middle of his Las Vegas residency, “The Best of All Worlds,” at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The residency runs from April 30th to May 17th.

So, why the talk about quitting? Well, Hagar’s always been about quality over quantity. He doesn’t want to be that guy on stage who can’t hit the notes. And let’s be real, we’ve all seen aging rockers who probably should’ve retired a few tours ago.

But here’s the thing, Hagar’s still got it. Fans have been raving about his Vegas shows, praising his energy and vocal prowess. Plus, he’s got a killer band backing him up, including Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, and Kenny Aronoff.

Still, the Red Rocker knows he can’t do this forever. He’s already decided to stop traditional touring, opting instead for residencies that are less physically demanding.
