Heart’s Ann Wilson and Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell covered “Black Hole Sun” at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2018 ceremony in Cleveland on Saturday, and Wilson discussed Cornell’s death during a press conference.

“There has kind of been an exodus lately, with Chris, Tom Petty, and Leonard Cohen, and who else? Just tons of people have decided at this moment to jump. Chris was my friend, and he was at the very heart of the Seattle music scene, and I miss him, but I realize he went as far as he could in this world with his soul. He couldn’t go any farther.”

She also said, “Two nights ago we taped a show out in Chicago, for my solo thing. It’s going to be shown on PBS, AXS, and a few other things. It’s just my performance with some documentary stuff mixed in, kind of introducing people to what I’m doing now.

I have a new album coming out called Immortal, it’s honoring the people that have decided, that have left in the last short little while, Leonard Cohen, Amy Winehouse, Jack Bruce. I have Jeff Beck playing on the record, Warren Haynes, and some really great players. I’m biased, but I think it’s the best record ever.”
