Sharon Osbourne discussed cutting business ties with her father and meeting Ozzy Osbourne in a new Billy Corgan podcast interview.

“Ozzy was signed with Jet Records… I wanted Ozzy out because I knew he would never get any money, never. My dad used to wait after the tour, first tour, ‘Where’s the money?’ Because we used to get paid in cash, still, in those days. And I’d have bags of money, and he’d say, ‘Where’s the money?’ And I’m like, ‘We’ve got to pay crew! We’ve got to pay this, that, trucks, buses…’ And I knew that we would just be workhorses… My father’s attitude was, ‘I’ll make you a star, and I’ll take the money.'”

She also discussed the evolution of her personal and professional relationship with Ozzy.

“He was married, two little babies, and it was one of those cases of having such belief in him that this is going to work, and you just feel it. And when we met Randy [Rhoads], we were like the three musketeers. I managed Randy, and he was under contract with me, not my father… It was just a magical time, when you believe in something so much your whole being is in it. And I had a lot to prove. Ozzy had a lot to prove. Randy had a lot to prove. So, that’s all we did. Work, work, work.”

While speaking to WBEZ in a recent interview, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello opened up about how it feels to have been tapped to be the musical director of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s final show.

“Heavy metal is the music that made me love music, and Black Sabbath is the band that invented heavy metal,” he said.

“So, when Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne asked me to be the musical director of what’s going to be the last Black Sabbath show – the last Ozzy Osbourne show in the soccer stadium that’s, like, a half-block down from where Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler, the bass player of Black Sabbath, grew up – I was honored to do that,” he added.

Speaking to NME about the event, Sharon Osbourne discussed their decision to call on Morello to run the show. “He is so knowledgeable on all different genres of music, but especially Sabbath, “she said. “He’s really passionate about everything he does and is such a great mate. He volunteered and the stuff that he’s managing to put together has been amazing.”

“He’s going to take care of all the different bands that are playing together and arranging who does what song. It’s a huge undertaking, and he can manage it all,” she added.

Last month, Black Sabbath announced they would be reuniting for their final show in their hometown of Birmingham, England this upcoming July. The all-star event will also include performances by Tom Morello, Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Alice In Chains, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Duff McKagan & Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Sammy Hagar, Wolfgang Van Halen, and so many more.

This is also being billed as Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance, as the musician revealed in 2020 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
