Before President Donald Trump’s address to Congress this past Tuesday (March 4th), musician Kid Rock made an appearance on Fox News with a message to members of the Democratic Party.

“Shut up. Sit there and learn something,” Kid Rock said when host Jesse Waters mentioned rumors that Democrats would try to draw attention away from the speech.

Rock then took aim specifically at U.S. representative Ilhan Omar, who has served in Congress since 2019.

“I mean what? Ilhan Omar’s gonna walk out? Just collect your things from your office, put a basket over your head and go back to where you came from,” Rock said, rather harshly.

Omar was born in Somalia, but was forced to flee with her family at just eight years old due to the country’s civil war. Her family then spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya before moving to the United States in the ‘90s.

Rock, who is an avid supporter of Donald Trump, is no stranger to controversy.

Last month, the musician called Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance “the epitome of DEI blowing up,” implying that the show was anything but inclusive.

Last year, he also made headlines after Rolling Stone reporter David Peisner claimed that during his lengthy interview with Kid Rock (whose real name is Robert James Ritchie), the musician uttered a racial slur multiple times – including in reference to the rapper Trick Trick, who is black.

“It’d be easy to label this as the rantings of a drunk racist, but as with everything that Ritchie does, it’s hard to know how calculated it all is,” Peisner wrote in his article. “Is he just trying to get a reaction? Is he begging to be pilloried when this story comes out so he can launch into a very public tirade against ‘cancel culture’? Is this all just a play for more attention?”

Rock also made news recently for storming off of a stage when the crowd refused to clap during his performance.
