News.com.au reports that Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has debuted a new look in a new video, wearing a white fur pimp coat and bling that is a drastic change from his Grunge hey day, and even a bit of a change from his solo album a few years ago. He also has on contact lenses that give a scary vibe!
Johns’ latest music video dropped today for a new disco-inspired song titled “No One Defeats Us,” a collaboration with Empire of the Sun’s Luke Steele. The electronica duo have named themselves ‘Dreams’ and are scheduled to perform at music festival Coachella in California this month.

Last month the following announcement was made:
Reverb.com — the online marketplace for buying, selling, and learning about music gear — and Chris Joannou announced that The Official Chris Joannou of Silverchair Reverb Shop would be launching. The shop features bass guitars, amps, synthesizers, and more used on tour and in the studio. Based on Joannou’s comments about the shop, it seems highly unlikely that a Silverchair reunion is coming.
“The gear for sale in my Reverb shop needs to go to a loving home — especially the bass guitars that have been with me on tour. They’re like family to me…they all have names. They’ve been with me for so long, toured all over the world with me, they’ve seen me at my best and at my worst,” Joannou said. “But I’m no longer using them and it’s time for someone else to enjoy them.”
The Official Chris Joannou of Silverchair Reverb Shop will feature a late ‘70s white Fender Precision bass guitar affectionately named “Whitey” by Joannou, and a 1975 Natural Fender Precision bass guitar Joannou called “Phil.” Both served as Joannou’s main bass guitars while Silverchair was on tour supporting its fifth and final studio album, the ARIA Award-winning Young Modern.
Other notable items in the shop include:
A Stuart Spector Designs NS4CR bass guitar that Joannou used extensively on tour and in the studio for 1997’s Freak Show. The bass guitar was purchased in New York during one of the bands first American tours.
Two Ampeg SVT810AV cabinets used for touring across Australia, mainly to support Young Modern.
A Roland RE-301 Space Echo that Joannou has used on various personal and Silverchair-related projects. “I just love the sound. It’s one of those pieces of gear that I’m always messing around with.”
A G&L SB1 bass guitar that Joannou has had for nearly 20 years.
Several pieces of studio equipment from the bass player’s personal studio, which has hosted artists including Josh Pyke, Paul Dempsey of Something for Kate, Jed Kurzel and Cec Condon of The Mess Hall, and more.
“It’s always hard to part with gear – especially when I have so much history with them all, But this gear shouldn’t be sitting around my home, it should be in someone’s hands being played,” Joannou said.
Since launching in 2013, Reverb has grown into the most popular music gear website in the world. According to Joannou, he decided to sell his gear on Reverb because the website was built for and by musicians and music lovers. Plus, every time he is personally looking for music gear, “all roads lead to Reverb.”
