Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha recently joined Billy Corgan in the studio to co-write a new song. Iha’s last Smashing Pumpkins writing credits were “Innocence” and “Go” on MACHINA II in 2000.

“James stopped by today and we wrote a new SP song. Good times! Plus showed him the prodigal Gish guitar
@jamesihaofficial @smashingpumpkins.”

Many commenters pointed out that Iha has cut his trademark long hair.

Smashing Pumpkins collaborator Linda Strawberry commented, “Amazing! Love the new hair @jamesihaofficial.”

honeygirl0102 commented, “@jamesihaofficial looking good! Gone are the purple glimmer lights hair shampoo!”

Corgan is referring to his Gish era guitar that he recently got back 27 years after it was stolen. Corgan announced his plans to use the guitar on the currently in the works new Smashing Pumpkins album.

Corgan recently wrote on Instagram, “TRICLOPS STUDIO// Driving thru Marietta, Georgia today decided to stop by and see what was once Triclops Studio, where Siamese Dream was recorded over 4 or so months (December ’92-March/April ’93). First time I’ve ever been back, and I’m reminded here of the great owners Rick and Mark who helped us make such an important album through their love of old school recording and vintage gear. @smashingpumpkins @chamberdrums @jamesihaofficial.”
