Soundgarden have finally earned their place in among the greats as they has been selected for induction in the Performer category of the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Alternative Nation can confirm that Soundgarden have soundchecked “Rusty Cage” and “Black Hole Sun” during rehearsals, so they will be part of the setlist.

Fans are now speculating what other songs they might play.

Soundgarden possible setlist

While no official set list has been released, fans are speculating about it. “Black Hole Sun,” “Spoonman,”  “Outshined,” “Burden in My Hand” could be among the list. Some fans have proposed a structure for the induction performance:

Start with “Black Hole Sun” (or multiple songs such as “Incessant Mace” / “Blow Up the Outside World” etc).

Then pivot into a set of deeper or harder tracks: titles like “Beyond the Wheel”, “Gun”, “Mind Riot/Drawing Flies”, “4th of July”, “Like Suicide”, “Never the Machine Forever”, “Ty Cobb”.

Close with a crowd-pleaser or encore, possibly “Hunger Strike” (with guest appearances from former members or associated acts such as Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard from Pearl Jam).

Given their catalogue, stage logistics, and the special nature of the induction, a probable set-list might consist of 3-4 songs, blending their biggest hits with a nod to deeper cuts and perhaps a guest. The safest bets: Black Hole Sun, Spoonman, Burden in My Hand. They may also include Loud Love or Outshined.

This Saturday, artists including Bad Company, Soundgarden, The White Stripes and Joe Cocker will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at a ceremony in Los Angeles.

The evening will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater through Disney+. ABC viewers will be able to tune into a highlight package of the ceremony on January 1st, with Hulu showing the ceremony from January 2nd.

The ceremony will also see appearances and performances by artists including Elton John, Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Jerry Cantrell, Bryan Adams, Avril Lavigne, Mick Fleetwood, Beck, The Killers, Chappell Roan, Olivio Rodrigo, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Taylor Momsen, Twenty One Pilots and Red Hot Chili Pepper, Flea.
