From PearlJam.com:

Many of us have lost people to suicide. Our hearts go out in equal measure to those who leave the world this way, and to those who are left behind to miss them.  If you have lost someone, it’s important to know that you are not alone. There is help and support available to you.

Each year, more than 44,000 people die by suicide in the U.S. and for every suicide there are 25 attempts. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness, funding scientific research and providing resources and support to those affected by suicide.

Matt Cameron directed $10,000 from Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy Foundation to help AFSP reduce the suicide rate through their education and support programs to local communities across the U.S.

If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide or you have lost someone to suicide, help is available here. You can also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or text “Talk” to 741-741.

If you want to support AFSP and their work to prevent suicide, you can:
