Spotify Unveils Reserved Tickets For Superfans
Spotify is rolling out a new concert-ticketing feature aimed at giving an artist’s biggest listeners a better chance at buying seats. The streaming giant announced “Reserved” during its investor day on Thursday, saying the initiative will set aside tickets for Premium subscribers and begin launching in the U.S. this summer.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Spotify has partnered with Live Nation on the program under a multiyear agreement, and that the company plans to identify “an artist’s most dedicated fans” using signals such as streams, shares and other activity before holding tickets back for them.
Under the system, selected users will be offered up to two tickets, with a day-long window to complete a purchase. Spotify did not name the first participating artists or specify how many seats would be reserved per tour, while noting there will be “significantly more superfans than there are seats available,” meaning not everyone will receive an offer.
Spotify framed the move as a response to widespread frustration with the modern ticket-buying process, where fans often spend hours in online queues and still miss out on high-demand shows. The company positioned Reserved as part of a broader push to build new products for superfans, unveiled alongside other investor-day announcements.
If the feature works as intended, it could become another lever for artists and promoters trying to route tickets toward engaged listeners rather than resellers, though its real-world impact will depend on how many tickets are allocated and which tours ultimately opt in.
