Neal Schon Updates Steve Perry Journey Return Talk
Journey guitarist Neal Schon has weighed in again on whether former frontman Steve Perry could ever return to the band, saying there has been no recent communication between them despite persistent fan speculation tied to Journey’s current touring run.
In a new interview, Schon said he and Perry have not spoken “in quite some time,” adding that the situation has not changed since the last time he was asked about it, Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM reported.
Even so, Schon stressed he would not close the door on the idea of Perry appearing with Journey again, explaining that any reunion would depend entirely on Perry being willing to do it. Schon said he remains open-minded and has “great respect” for everyone who has been in the band, crediting the collective work that helped make Journey a long-running staple.
The comments come amid ongoing reunion chatter surrounding Perry, who left Journey in 1998. Alternative Nation has previously tracked the push-and-pull of these reports, including when a Journey member addressed a false Steve Perry rumour that gained traction online.
For now, Schon’s latest remarks make clear that nothing is actively in motion between the two camps, but that a guest appearance remains a possibility only if Perry decides he wants to step back onstage with the band.
