Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was accused many years ago by The Black Crowes icon Chris Robinson of using backing tracks, and he is yet again explaining why he brought up the controversy.

Steven Tyler himself defended Beyonce in 2013 after reports that she used backing tracks and lip synced the National Anthem.

“Beyonce’s so hot she can do anything,” he told TMZ. “Let’s just get real.”

Jennifer Lopez candidly told Jon Stewart on The Daily Show at the time, “Sometimes it happens when you are in certain stadiums and certain venues and things, they do pre-record stuff because you’re going to have that terrible slap-back.”

“I started out so cantankerous with Aerosmith. We went on tour with them and I was still a kid, and I was shocked that they used tapes for [Steven Tyler’s] vocals. Not the whole thing, but you know, that people back then were using [tapes]. Robert Plant was doing it.

I brought it up in my first Rolling Stone interview and got nasty messages from everyone involved! [Laughs.] ‘What are you doing, kid?’ I was like, ‘Oh, sorry!’ I just was shocked that that’s how this went down,” Robinson told Ultimate Classic Rock.

Joe Perry and Brad Whitford revealed why they’re still excited to play with Aerosmith in a recent Guitar Player interview.

Perry said, “It still is, yeah. And what we’re doing with these Vegas shows, it’s a whole other level of that. It’s exciting, and in a new way.”

Whitford, “Well, a song like ‘Walk This Way,’ it’s one of those classic riffs. It’s always great to play. It goes by way too quickly! But yeah, it’s great to do these songs. You hear them on the radio and stuff and you go, ‘That’s our band! And we get to play that live!'”
