System of a Down fans have been waiting 15 years for a new album, while Tool fans just last year finally got their wish with a new album after 13 years, the highly acclaimed Fear Innoculum. Tool recently discussed canceling a new album with Maynard James Keenan.

System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian discussed becoming a fan of Tool, Maynard James Keenan, and Rage Against The Machine in a new Loudwire interview where he discussed his band before System of a Down.

“I wasn’t with them very long. There’s a band called Roswell – very cool guys – a guy named Shawn and a guy named Ron. Ron’s still around, but I haven’t seen Shawn for a while. He follows me, I follow him, it’s kind of cool.

These guys, I found them from the Recycler; these two guys, they were cool, and I liked what they were doing. They actually opened me up to the newer style of rock, they showed me Quicksand and I got into Tool…

I knew Tool, but I was like, I got deep with Rage and Tool with them, I really liked them a lot. It was cool.”

Ultimate-Guitar transcribed Shavo’s comments. Shavo’s bandmate Serj Tankian reacted to the tragic death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday night on Instagram, “Posted @withregram • @chantalclaret Took a hiatus from my hiatus to show some love for the incredible RBG. Who dictated to her granddaughter right before she passed away ‘My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.'”
