Late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane Hawkins recently stunned the band’s frontman Dave Grohl with a drum solo on August 11th during the band’s show at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Shane Hawkins performs incredible drum solo
In the past, Shane Hawkins earned massive praise in the music industry when he performed on drums with the Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium in London during the first of two Hawkins tribute concerts. He delivered an emotional rendition of “My Hero” that moved fans to tears.
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters headlined a show on Friday in Los Angeles for the first time in nearly nine years. That is a very long hiatus from the epicenter of the music industry for any touring band of Foo Fighters’ caliber. It’s quite unusual for Dave Grohl and co. as they call Southern California home. However, recent years have been eventful for the band, sometimes tragically so.
Foo Fighters were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, their first year of eligibility. However, that induction came in the middle of the pandemic, which shut down the live music business for most of 2020 and much of 2021.
Taylor Hawkins passed away
The following year, the band’s legendary drummer Taylor Hawkins tragically passed away during a trip to Bogota, Columbia. Without their longtime drummer, Foo Fighters canceled the remainder of that year’s tour, including two nights at what was then Banc of California Stadium.
A couple of years forward, Foo Fighters made their comeback to Los Angeles to play those dates, with veteran drummer Josh Freese now sitting behind the drums. The audience was enthralled when Dave, Josh, guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett, bassist Nate Mendel and keyboardist Rami Jaffee took the stage at BMO Stadium and delivered a memorable show.
