The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen has covered one of late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell’s greatest movie soundtrack song performances, “The Keeper” from 2011’s Machine Gun Preacher, starring Gerard Butler. Momsen performs the song with Alain Johannes, who has played in Eleven, Queens of the Stone Age, the Chris Cornell Band, and Them Crooked Vultures. “The Keeper” was a reunion for Johannes and Cornell in 2011, doing a television performance to promote the song a decade after collaborating and touring for Euphoria Morning.

Momsen’s band The Pretty Reckless opened for Soundgarden on their final tour in spring 2017, including the night Chris Cornell died by suicide in Detroit in May. Momsen frequently cited Cornell as her musical hero before he died, and after his death revealing that she finally got to talk to him backstage and get to know him shortly before he died.

Cornell even gave Momsen and The Pretty Reckless a shot out onstage at Soundgarden’s penultimate show. Momsen later sang with Soundgarden at the ‘I Am The Highway’ Chris Cornell tribute show in January 2019. Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil are also guesting on The Pretty Reckless’ new album Death By Rock and Roll, with Momsen maintaining a friendship with Soundgarden’s surviving members.
