A New Album and Tour Were Expected for 2026

After more than 60 years together, The Rolling Stones were widely expected to return in a major way in 2026. According to Crimson Sunday, multiple reliable sources close to the band reported that a brand-new studio album and a European tour were planned for spring and summer 2026. The band reportedly recorded around 13 new songs at Metropolis Studios in London between April and May 2025.

Guitarist Ronnie Wood fueled that excitement when he confirmed during an album signing in London on September 26, 2025, that a new album was on the way, stating that a release was due next year, clearly pointing toward 2026. Many insiders expected the album to arrive around April 2026, followed by a European tour launch around the same time.

New Reports Cast Doubt on 2026 Touring Plans

That optimism has now taken a hit. Music journalist Mitch Lafon took to Twitter to point out growing concern among fans, writing:

“Lots of online discussion today about the Rolling Stones canceling all 2026 Tour plans.

Could it be the end of an era? If so, they had one heck of a run!”

More concern surfaced on the Steve Hoffman Music Forums, where posters claimed the band had quietly dropped plans to tour Europe in 2026. One widely shared post stated:

“Though it was never formally announced as ‘on,’ the Rolling Stones have apparently dropped plans to tour Europe this coming summer.

Major fan boards like IORR and Shidoobee saw posts last night from prominent insiders like Bjornulf Vik, Richard Fox, Doug Potash and Hendrik Mulder acknowledging that such a tour was not going to happen.

The word is that health issues are NOT the cause of the tour plans being scuttled, though alternative causes are thus far only speculation, i.e. insurance costs, venue date difficulties, etc.”

Fans Fear the End of Touring for the Stones

Longtime fan site IORR showed similar concerns, posting under the headline “The Rolling Stones Final Bows – Rumoured 2026 Tour Off.” The post read:

“It is not all over yet, but the 2025 tour was off, and the 2026 tour seems to be off too, so it will be hard to make another tour.”

While there has been no official statement from the band, many fans are now treating the news as a possible sign that The Rolling Stones’ touring days may be coming to an end. For now, the future remains uncertain, leaving fans waiting to see whether the legendary band will return for one final run or quietly step away from the road.
