Tool drummer Danny Carey marched down Fremont Street playing with a 110 person high school marching band here in Las Vegas the other day, as seen below.

While speaking with Spiral Out Network in a new interview, Tool drummer Danny Carey revealed that the band has “been talking” with the Sphere in Las Vegas about a possible residency timed around the release of their long-awaited sixth studio album.

His remarks came while discussing the cinematic quality of the visuals Tool use during their live performances.

“Yeah, we’re very much into that. We’re hoping when we release a new record, maybe do a stand at the Sphere, ‘cause I think we’re perfect for that. We’ve been talking to those guys,” Carey revealed (as transcribed by Alternative Nation).

He went on to admit, though, that putting together a run of shows at the cutting-edge venue has its challenges.

“The preparation is pretty intense to get everything up to the highest resolution and everything. It’s a very expensive endeavor and it takes a while to get into the black. I think it’s quite a few shows before you make any money,” he said.

When asked if he’s had the chance to see any shows at the Sphere, Carey explained that while he hasn’t, he did get an up-close look at the space.

“Well, I just took a tour of it. I haven’t actually seen a full-on show. […] It’s incredible, man. Almost got vertigo [laughs].”

Carey also offered a potential timeline for both the new album and their possible residency.

“We’ve been doing quite a lot of stuff lately. […] Working on a lot of new Tool songs right now. So, hopefully 2027. That’s the goal.”
