Holly Carlson has shared a new photo of herself in the studio with Tool guitarist Adam Jones and Kurt Cobain’s best friend Dylan Carlson. Dylan was one of Cobain’s best friends, and helped him get the gun that he ended up dying by suicide with in 1994. Cobain told Carlson that he wanted the gun for protection. Carlson is also known as being a musician in the Seattle music scene, as a member of the band Earth. Kurt Cobain contributed vocals to Earth’s live album Sunn Amps And Smashed Guitars.

Tool are hard at work in the studio on their new album, with Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor’s tracking reportedly done, and Adam Jones making great progress on his guitar recording. Maynard James Keenan is reportedly still in Arizona working on his winemaking until Jones completes recording his guitar parts. Keenan still has some touring later this year A Perfect Circle to continue to promote their new album Eat the Elephant, but Tool are expected to finally release their new album in 2019. The band’s last album was 2006’s 10,000 Days.

Last week, Tool guitarist Adam Jones posted three Instagram story photos that appeared to be about the band’s new album. First was a photo of a room with art on the wall with the word ‘Soon’ written above it. The second photo is a record player with a rock on hand sign caption, followed by a third photo featuring his guitar pedals in the studio.
