Last year, Tool announced a Spring 2024 UK/European tour, adding to their extensive itinerary for 2024. The band made its highly anticipated return to Europe in the spring and the European trek kicked off May 25th in Hanover, Germany, and runs through June 27th in Oslo, Norway, for an appearance at the Tons of Rock festival. Their stop included Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Fans on Reddit noted that at the end of the show when Maynard James Keenan tried fist-bumping Adam, the latter turned it down. Howver, he did fist bump everyone else. Fans are now wondering what was all that about.

Fans react to the Tool members’ interaction

One fan wrote: “I had first row ticket and saw that too, actually Adam pointed to this throat so I guess he’s sick and that’s why he didn’t fist bumped him”

Second wrote: “But AJ then hugged Danny and did the group bow with Justin. Close contact there. Idk, maybe he didnt want to get MJK sick cause losing his voice would be devastating.”

Another fan agreed and wrote: “Yeah, exactly this. Danny and Justin can still play just fine with a cold. Maynard not so much.”

Meanwhile, fans have also noticed that the band frontman Maynard James Keenan generally performs toward the back of the stage. Rumors floated regarding its reason. Some said that it was due to his general shyness while some suggested Keenan tried to be mysterious. However, Maynard James Keenan has revealed the reason.

In an interview with Kerrang!, Keenan revealed that the reason he’s back there is to take and give cues to the rest of the band.

“With Tool, Danny’s drums are so loud, he has like 17 arms and 15 legs, and then you’ve got Adam’s row of amps and Justin’s wall of bass. It just makes it way harder for the front-of-house to have a mix if [I’m] down front. And the position up top is also great, visually, because I can see what’s going on, we can connect with each other by looking at each other. If I was facing the audience, my back would be to what’s happening, so I can’t take cues.”

Keenan had also talked about new Tool – as he does in every single interview, saying that once again, the band can’t take forever like they normally do.

“We can’t fu**ing wait 14 fu**ing years to release a thing! That’s insane! So we just have to figure out a different way. With the other projects it’s easier, but we still have to set the time aside. Aside from your children and your wife or husband, the next priority has to be writing. Otherwise this is not going to get done.”
