Popular singer Miley Cyrus has drawn attention of Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan, who mentioned her. During Joe Rogan’s podcast, Keenan opened up on Cyrus.

While discussing general music topics with Maynard, Joe mentioned Miley Cyrus, appreciating her musicianship and uniqueness. They discussed how Cyrus was the well-known change that not only included musical direction but also everything else surrounding her.
Looking back on her 180-degree change, Maynard said the following:
“She literally just started swearing every other word to break out of the part of that. You’re so trapped into the ‘Hannah Montana’ thing that to get out of that, you had to start, almost go full Mike Patton, and start smearing shit on everything. Just to fucking erase it and start over.”
She managed to pull herself through it and Maynard went on to explain:
“But, you know, it seems that she has figured a way to wiggle and broaden out of it. There are so many people with their hands out, so many people that have a piece of that, so many people that don’t want you to branch out because they think it could ruin the gravy train that they’re enjoying.”
