‘The’ Nine Inch Nails appeared on Part 8 of Showtime’s Twin Peaks: The Return on June 25th, and the band’s frontman Trent Reznor told Zane Lowe in a new interview that he loved the episode. NIN performed “She’s Gone Away” off of Not The Actual Events on the episode.
“It was a pretty simple process, it was David Lynch calling and saying, ‘Do you want to be in Twin Peaks,’ and me saying yes. It was as simple as that.
Twin Peaks I think was one of the most important television experiences, the original one, I think is the architect behind a lot of what makes TV so great today. David Lynch as an artist has been in every top realm of heroes of mine, inspiration, film and sound, intellect and approach, rule breaking.
It was incredibly flattering and an honor to be even considered for this. The experience was magical and excellent. I didn’t know much more about how we were going to appear than anyone else did until that episode aired.
When it did air, it felt like the coolest hour of television I think I’ve ever seen, the least of which has to do with us being in it.”
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is set to appear on Twin Peaks: The Return later this season.
