At their first 2018 show in Santiago, Chile on Tuesday, Pearl Jam celebrated the 55th birthday of bassist Jeff Ament. Eddie Vedder started out speaking in Spanish, but he and the crowd eventually sang happy birthday to Ament in English. Stone Gossard ended up getting the birthday cake in his hair courtesy of Jeff the birthday boy, and Eddie Vedder insisted on giving some of the cake to the fans in the crowd. You can watch the adorable video below.

Pearl Jam promoted a student walkout today on Instagram: “To all the students walking out today: we support you. #ENOUGH.”

Eddie Vedder’s wife Jill posted, “Today at 10am across time zones, students across the nation are walking out of class for 17 minutes to demand Congress take action to end gun violence, one month since the shooting in Parkland, Florida. Here are 4 ways to show your support for the students taking action:‬

1. Wear orange + go orange on social media.‬
2. Text P2P to RTVOTE (788-683) to register to vote or to check/update your voter registration status.‬
3. Use the hashtag #ENOUGH on social media.‬
4. Check Women’s March Youth’s virtual walkout feed at https://www.womensmarch.com/virtual-walkout/. #ENOUGH.”
