Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder might write music with Yungblud in the future, according to Yungblud on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast. Fans are specuating that we could maybe see an EP in the future, like Yungblud’s One More Time with Aerosmith.
Following his performance at Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell show “Back to the Beginning,” Yungblud has gained widespread attention. The rising artist has since kept that momentum going, collaborating with Aerosmith on a five-song EP and teaming up with Smashing Pumpkins on a reworked version of his song “Zombie.”
Even with his growing success, Yungblud continues to face skepticism from some who aren’t convinced he represents the next generation of rock.
In a new interview with Loudwire, Yungblud spoke about the ongoing criticism and negativity he and other young rock artists regularly encounter online, and how it can be discouraging for emerging musicians.
“On my third album, a lot of people had an opinion about me,” he said. “A lot of people still have an opinion about me, but when you are a young kid and you’re trying to appease it and you make an album from your head, when people don’t like you, it hurts.”
He continued: “People like me or people don’t and that’s not always easy to handle. It can make you feel really isolated and it can actually deter you as a young musician.
“But to be honest, ultimately, I think that’s the reason why I’m f*cking here — to take on the bitterness a little bit because people don’t realize that this blind negativity deters young musicians from trying at all.”
Yungblud also reflected on meeting some of his musical heroes and discovering that they had faced many of the same obstacles and pushback he’s encountered.
“What was beautiful about last year, about meeting Steven Tyler, about meeting Ozzy, about meeting Billy [Corgan] — every great rock star has always felt the same. Isn’t it funny that every f*cking great rock star was always hated? It almost encourages you more to use it as fuel and fight back.”
