Vicky Cornell shared the last note she got from her late husband Chris Cornell in a new People interview, written inside her Mother’s Day card.

‘To my wife and whole universe, my child bride who became the most amazing mother anyone could ever imagine,’ wrote Chris.

‘Your love and respect inspire awe and a deep sense of joy to see you blossom into the lioness you have become, both nurturing and warm but the fiercest of protectors.’

He then added: ‘We are all fortunate to bask in the warm glow of your bright light!’

Chris signed the card by writing: ‘From your loving husband and other half.’

The pair were married in 2004, just one year after they met in 2003 when Vicky was working an afterparty for Chris’ band Audioslave.

Chris had a daughter Lily, now 17, from his first marriage to Susan Silver when he met Vicky – the mother of his daughter Toni, 12, and 11-year-old Chris.

‘They were attached at the hip,’ Vicky said of her husband and Toni.

‘They know he would never have left them like that. That’s what’s keeping them as strong as they are.’

Vicky believes that in the end it was a relapse that took her husband’s lie.

‘Addiction is a disease,’ she said in her interview.

‘I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure other children don’t have to cry like mine have cried.’
