Corey Taylor revealed the role Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl in Slipknot hiring Jay Weinberg in a new SRF 3 interview. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments regarding an old photo of himself with Grohl backstage at a concert. Slipknot revealed why they don’t play with Foo Fighters often in an interview last year.

“That was actually at, I want to say it was Rock Im Park, about 4 or 5 years ago. They were headlining the main stage, and we were headlining the second stage. We were going on after them at 1AM, we were so shot. He managed to kind of come over and see some stuff, but we were hanging out (burps), excuse me, sorry about that. He came over and we were hanging out a little before the show.

We go way back, I met Dave officially when Stone Sour was making The Come Whatever May album at his studio, 606 in Northridge. We became really good friends. Here’s a fun fact, we actually tried out Jay Weinberg, our new drummer, at 606.

We were able to get the studio for a day, he came in, set up, he didn’t know who he was auditioning for, and then we all walked in and he kind of shit his pants. It was pretty fuckin’ cool, so thank you Dave for helping us do that.”

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently had high praise for Billie Eilish, saying that her connection with an audience is the same thing that happened with Nirvana in 1991. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder also appeared to agree with Grohl’s complimentary remarks. Vedder told Easy Street Records, “That new record is great. That new Billie Eilish record is so great.” Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor retweeted a new tweet about Eilish. The original tweet by Rey said, “Billie Eilish is what Björk was to the 90s.” The tweet response that Taylor retweeted said, “i wonder if u guys know how disrespectful u are sometimes.”

It was reported that Grohl said at Pollstar Live last month, “My daughters are obsessed with Billy Eilish. And what I’m seeing happening with my daughters is the same revolution that happened to me at their age.

“They’re becoming themselves through her music. She totally connects to them. So we went to go see her play… and the connection that she has with her audience is the same thing that was happening with Nirvana in 1991.”

“I would call that rock n roll. When I look at someone like Billie Eilish, I’m like…shit man….rock n roll is not even close to being dead…”

Grohl later clarified his reported statement on Twitter.
