A fan is claiming that Eddie Vedder paid a large amount of money to continue playing a solo show in Dublin at 3 Arena on Friday night.

ten-vs-vitalogy wrote on the PearlJam.com forums, “A lad who works at the 3arena said Eddie walked off stage and signed a cheque for €25,000 so he could keep playing.”

Sounds like one helluva show! I guess if you’re worth almost 100,000 million, 25K is like a quarter…but hey, it sure was a nice gesture for the fans. Eddie seems to be giving so much of himself on this tour. I wish we could see some video!

  • Gabi Sermoneta

Not sure what this means.. He paid or else he could not play? Why? Can we have a full story instead of copy /paste from social media pages?

    • David Walsh

There’s a policy that you can’t play past a certain time in the 3 Arena, or face a fine I think. Eddie just said feck it lol and signed the cheque. 😀

Thanks for explaining. The cut and paste was confusing as all heck

Probably a curfew. 11pm seems to be the universal constant for city curfews. Usually you get fined for playing longer. It’s why most concerts are predictable and end at 11pm (give or take a few minutes). I guess he payed the fine immediately and kept going.

You should’ve just given the money to charity, Vedder.

    • Splinterbitch

Eddie, and Pearl Jam in general, give plenty to charitable causes. Go piss in someone else’s cheerios.

You know, I’ve often wonder why bands don’t add a buck or two to every ticket, and then use it to pay off the fines for playing past curfew 🙂

    • Stone Gossardish

      They don’t care that much.
