The Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins shockingly passed away at the age of 50. The band had confirmed the news of his demise. Dave Grohl-fronted band was due to play on the same day of his death. They were scheduled to play at the Festival Estereo Picnic in Bogota, Colombia. This led to the band reportedly canceling the rest of their South American tour.
Foo Fighter makes announcement to the fans
The Foo Fighters announced they will no longer be performing at the Festival Estéreo Picnic after Taylor Hawkins passed away. The band previously issued a statement about Hawkins’ death on Twitter.
It read: “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
No proper cause of his death has been revealed. Police believe Taylor’s death could be drug related and that he’d reportedly complained to hotel staff about having chest pains. The Metropolitan Police of Bogota, in a statement released by several Colombian newspapers, said: ‘The cause of death has yet to be established. ‘According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs.’ The Daily Mail reported this alleged statement. But, he had a history of drug use.
Previously, a video after his death in a hotel was also revealed. Taylor had been a member of the Foo Fighters for 25 years. He was recently seen in the horror-comedy film, Studio 666. Hawkins had played with the Foo Fighters one of the US’ most influential and critically-lauded alternative rock bands since 1997, providing percussion on some of the group’s biggest hits including “Learn to Fly” and “Best of You.” He previously played the drums for Canadian indie songstress Alanis Morissette.
