Last week, Foo Fighters released a video that poked fun at breakup rumors, with Dave Grohl starting a ficticious solo career and his ex-bandmates seeking a new singer. Foo Fighters have made their ‘band announcement’ video, a satire that shows Dave Grohl ‘going Hollywood’ with a solo career with Butch Vig producing. The rest of the band consider hiring a new singer, with Eddie Vedder, Billy Corgan, Chris Cornell, and Perry Farrell, Phil Collins, and Justin Bieber as leading candidates. The band settle in Nick Lachey, before the video ends mocking reports of the band’s ‘impending breakup.’

Foo Fighters revealed last night that they would make an official band announcement: “Official band announcement tomorrow night. Stay tuned.”
On Monday, the New York Post’s Page Six reported there’s “tension” between band members Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, citing an unnamed source, who claims Grohl is ramping up a solo career after performing at the Oscars on Sunday. “The band is billing it as a ‘break,’ but it’s totally Dave going solo and Taylor is pissed about it,” the Post’s source said.
While a rep for the Foo Fighters declined comment to Entertainment Weekly about Grohl’s plans for 2016, the rep says any reports about the band breaking up are “utterly ridiculous.”

Dave Grohl discussed Foo Fighters’ lack of ambition to win more Grammys recently in an interview with CBS, as transcribed by Alternative Nation.
“We’re the old guys. We root for the young ones. We don’t sit there and [angrily] think, ‘God, I hope I get another fucking Grammy!’ We’re like, ‘That Alabama Shakes record kicks ass.’ You root for the young ones coming up. A band like Alabama Shakes, they’re a good example, because they’ve been around for awhile.
I’ve watched them go from the side stage of the festival, to headlining the side stage, to being on the main stage early in the day, to headlining, over 6 or 8 years, so they’ve been working hard. So they deserve everything they get. Killer band, it’s a great record. So for that kind of stuff, we’re excited for the younger bands.”
