Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan reacted to a new headline stating that Justin Bieber is a fan of Tool. He responded, “#Bummer.” Justin Bieber quoted Tool’s “The Pot” on Thursday on his Instagram story. Maynard James Keenan recently broke a crazy rule at a Tool show.
“Who are you to wave your finger?/ You must have been outta your head/ Eye hole deep in muddy waters/ You practically raised the dead.”
Bieber added, “If you know what the song is to the lyrics I posted write them down on my last post don’t look it up please I’m curious if any of you know it.”
Tool fans were surprisingly supportive on Reddit, with one even hoping he will make a surprise appearance on the new Tool album, set for release on August 30th with a North American tour rumored.
Elfingar commented, “Maybe underneath the relentless control from his management he got enough down time to try and find good music… I know it sounds like an awful thing to say, but I hope he never covers a Tool song.”
CarliferMarx said, “I would fucking straight up listen to a Bieber Tool cover. It would be sick as hell.”
Elfingar wrote, “The guy can sing, is actually a good musician , you have to be at that level of marketability
I think he’d do a good job, I’m just skeptical about whether it would have soul to it. So many tool covers are tackled with passion and some are bad. No fault of the person, just a subjective opinion. And I’d rather hear those type of covers than something flawless performed without a spark.
None of us could know whether he had a superficial interest in the music or not. He would definitely nail the notes though.”
SnakesCardboardBox commented, “Bieber actually started out as a drummer before he became the child pop star sensation. Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what draws him to Tool. If drumming is still a passion of his and he’s kept with it throughout the years, I could see him doing a cover with that.”
WordUnheard wrote, “Justin Bieber will be on the album, confirmed.”
