Sammy Hagar has confirmed that there is an unheard new song from the 2004 Van Halen reunion, and also a couple of unreleased songs from the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge era. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments from an Eddie Trunk interview. David Lee Roth ‘canceled’ a new Van Halen album release.

“We did a little bit, and I know exactly which songs they are. There are four songs I remember, that I actually had lyrics and sang, but they didn’t make the album. There’s only about four from my era, but I’m sure Eddie has a ton of music where him and Al are jamming. Eddie was always in that studio.”

He later added, “We were always in a hurry to go back on the road. We did album tour, album tour for the 10 years I was in the band. The longest we ever took was For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge where we took kind o 2 or 3 year hiatus, but we were really working slow on that record.

There were a couple songs from that, and there was a song from right before the reunion tour, I think there was an extra tune.

But anyways, things that didn’t make the record the first time, they wouldn’t make the record the second time either. It’s not like there would ever be any bad Van Halen music, but the songs probably weren’t up to par, we all felt that way. What made the record was the good stuff.” Eddie Van Halen was disrespected at the American Music Awards last week.
