Netphoria is reporting that Billy Corgan’s friend and former bandmate Linda Strawberry has posted the following in the Sad Machines Facebook group.

“I would just throw out there that touring at that level is hard at your body and your emotions and you have to be in top form- and in this cruel meme filed world you also have to have Teflon skin- it’s brutal out there. So some people get there and burn up in the sun and disappear. Others adjust. Some thrive. And music is dutiful and you have to be on top form of your game there too. I think it is actually cruel to expect someone to try to jump in the fire when they might not be able to handle it. People should always be put before money or whatever else. Just a thought. Who can handle it? Who is handling it? Who might not be able to handle it?”

Alternative Nation reported yesterday:

Some major developments surrounding D’arcy Wretzky’s involvement in Smashing Pumpkins’ original lineup reunion have developed, and here is the recap.

Blast Echo first reported on Sunday that original Smashing Pumpkins bassist D’arcy Wretzky has confirmed that a Smashing Pumpkins reunion is on, but she was just informed that she will not take part in the tour.

The article stated:

Speaking exclusively to BlastEcho via text, Wretzky wrote, “My apologies to all of the Smashing Pumpkins fans out there who are excited about this oncoming reunion tour of the original members of the band. I know this is a huge disappointment for me, as well, but it’s not going to happen [with me].”

She added, “I only just found about yesterday that the band has decided to go with a different bass player.”

According to Wretzky, the band is planning to launch a summer tour featuring frontman Billy Corgan, original guitarist James Iha, original drummer Jimmy Chamberlain and, now a to-be-determined bassist, beginning in July.

At this time, Wretzky declined to provide additional details.

Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha were recently photographed together at a studio in Los Angeles. Jeff Schroeder was also present.

Wretzky was interviewed by Blast Echo two years ago in her only interview she has done in the 2010’s, so they do have a history of communication with her. Blast Echo’s new article also featured the first new photo of D’arcy since 2014.

Blast Echo later took the new article down at the request of D’arcy. Blast Echo told a fan, “She told me to take it down…hopefully I can get it up again later.”

D’arcy later posted on her personal Facebook, “I haven’t been on FB since- oh! i’m pretty sure i know who did this.me crazy somewone IS hacking my phone&/or fb account.”

A fan commented on the post asking if the article stating that she wouldn’t be joining the Smashing Pumpkins reunion was true. D’arcy said she ‘was sposed to.’

The fan asked, “Was that article about the pumpkins reunion real, that you aren’t joining them?”

Darcy responded: “Was sposed to.”

Billy Corgan’s close friend and former solo bandmate Linda Strawberry commented on the story in a Facebook group.

“Hahah I normally don’t say anything at all but really everyone should just wait for Billy to chime in either way. The only thing I can comment on is that he’s writing some killer music. And a ton of it.”

Note that Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha have yet to offer comment on this news.
