Red Hot Chili Peppers members Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer have joined forces with Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready to reform part of Chad Smith’s Super Mega Funktastic Jam Rock All Stars, who recently performed at a charity gig for Will Ferrell. The trio performed at the Game Changer Gala in Seattle over the weekend, and they covered the Prince classic “Purple Rain” with Josh Klinghoffer on lead vocals. The Game Changer Gala benefits Team Gleason and Answer ALS.

Spokane native and former NFL player Steve Gleason was diagnosed with ALS in 2011, following a wildly successful college and professional football career. After Gleason’s diagnosis, he said, “There will be no white flags.” He founded the Team Gleason Foundation and has raised millions of dollars to fund ALS research and technology. Gleason is close friends with Pearl Jam.

Team Gleason strives to provide solutions for those living with ALS now and Answer ALS is the single-largest coordinated and collaborative effort to end ALS in the history of the disease.
