Jimmy Chamberlin admitted in a new AZCentral interview that he was disappointed that D’arcy Wretzky did not rejoin The Smashing Pumpkins this year to complete an original lineup reunion that failed to come to fruition after two years of media teases by Billy Corgan.

Asked if he was disappointed that she’s not involved, Chamberlin says, “Of course I was.”

The whole band wanted her to be involved, he says, and went into negotiations with the “best intentions.”

Chamberlin said an original lineup reunion tour with D’arcy ‘would have been amazing.’

Chamberlin doesn’t get into it, saying, “I certainly wish that it could’ve been different. But I’m also a firm believer in the universe and what it gives you and trusting that things are right. I feel like the universe gave us what we needed to do the tour and we ended up doing it. I mean, obviously, if it could’ve been that way, it would’ve been amazing. But it was amazing nevertheless.”

According to text messages D’arcy leaked to Alternative Nation earlier this year, Billy Corgan only offered her a role as a guest performer in January, comparing it to Steven Adler’s very minimal guest appearances on Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour.
