Billy Corgan has ripped ‘trolls’ who attacked him after he announced his hope that The Smashing Pumpkins will release a Christmas album in a new Instagram story Q&A.

Do you find it hard to take a break for the holidays? Or do you never really switch of creatively?

“I plan on taking up the trolls in the media and following thru on my threat to record Christmas songs because yeah, it’s so edgy and WEIRD for a musician to record songs, especially seasonal ones that celebrate family and the holiday.”

Please, please, please record a Christmas album. Would love just you solo or the whole band.

“Def needs to be the band.”

Is it ‘clickbait’ to report you’re interested in doing a Xmas record or just ‘music news’?

“When the article makes fun of the idea I’d say that’s not reportage and certainly a wasted college education for that bearded soy man.”

Alternative Nation supports a Smashing Pumpkins Christmas album. Since the tragic loss of late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, who released The Most Wonderful Time of the Year in 2011, alternative rock has been missing a big name Christmas music enthusiast. We would be thrilled to see Billy Corgan followup Scott Weiland’s footsteps as he walks into a winter wonderland.

The Smashing Pumpkins performed for the final time in 2018 last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live. You can watch video below.
