Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan liked an Instagram post by late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell‘s widow marking what would have been the rock icon’s 55th birthday. Corgan recently reacted to a surprising Chris Cornell rumor. She wrote, “Forever missed, forever loved.” The post features a previously unseen email from Cornell that appears to be from near the end of his life, though a date is not specified.

In the email to his wife Vicky, Chris wrote, “Oh good! You know I only care about my family. You and my babies. It’s hard for me to go to sleep and wake up without you. When it’s bumpy and I think about the plane crashing, all I can think about is you three and nothing that separates us seems worth it. Come to me!”

Actress Rita Wilson commented on the post with the email, “Love is love. Glad Chris was born. He gave so much.”

Late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington’s widow Talinda commented, “Happy Birthday Chris❤️ Love you Vicky.” Chris’ birthday is also the 2-year anniversary of Chester’s death.

An emotional final Chris Cornell and Jimmy Page photo recently surfaced. Former Audioslave and Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello wrote to mark Cornell’s birthday, “My kids recently discovered Audioslave and while rocking out hard to Cochise my oldest stopped and said, ‘Dad, it’s really sad that Chris Cornell is dead.’ I replied, ‘That is very true, but let’s keep rocking out.’ And we did. Happy Birthday, Chris.”
