Earlier this month, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne took their final bow at their farewell show “Back to the Beginning.” The star-studded event – which took place at Villa Park in the band’s hometown of Birmingham, UK – also featured performances by Metallica, Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Tom Morello, Billy Corgan, Steven Tyler, Chad Smith, Travis Barker, Slayer, Pantera, and many more.
The event became the highest-grossing charity concert of all time, raising over $190 million to be split between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’ s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Now, a film documenting the sold-out gig is set to arrive in theaters sometime in 2026.
A press release for the 100-minute film describes the project as “a love letter to Ozzy and the pioneering sound of Black Sabbath”.
“The theatrical release will be a distilled version of the epic all-day event held at Villa Park,” the statement revealed, according to Variety. “Featuring thunderous performances of ‘War Pigs,’ ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Children of the Grave’ and a show-stopping ‘Paranoid,’ the film promises a deeply personal and electrifying farewell from the godfather of heavy metal with exclusive behind-the-scenes access and interviews from this iconic live performance.”
