Alice In Chains legend Jerry Cantrell is describing his upcoming solo album, I Want Blood, as a major and intense work. Following the release of his new single, “Vilified,” which features Robert Trujillo, the Alice in Chains guitarist talked about what fans can expect from the album. He stated that it is a departure from his previous work, Brighten, showing a different and more confident approach. Cantrell believes this album features some of his best songwriting, playing, and singing. In fact, Alice In Chains and Metallica members are recording something as well.
“This record is a serious piece of work. It’s a motherf*cker. It’s hard, no doubt, and completely unlike ‘Brighten.’ And that’s what you want, to end up in a different place. There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing.”
The album, Cantrell’s fourth solo LP, will be released on October 18 through Double J Music. It features guest appearances from Greg Puciato of Better Lovers and Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, among others.
In addition to “Vilified,” the album includes eight other tracks: “Off the Rails,” “Afterglow,” “I Want Blood,” “Echoes of Laughter,” “Throw Me a Line,” “Let It Lie,” “Held Your Tongue,” and “It Comes.”
