The Smashing Pumpkins and other 90’s alternative rock legends like Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Tool, and Stone Temple Pilots have been disrespected by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in recent years. None of them have even been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, at least Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, and Jane’s Addiction have been nominated and snubbed. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Radiohead, and Red Hot Chili Peppers have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in recent years. Billy Corgan reacted to the disrespect of the Pumpkins by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a new Instagram story Q&A.
When you are inevitably inducted into the Rock Hall, who do you want to induct you?
“I don’t envision it happening. so…”
Comedian John Mulaney thinks SP’s absence is proof the R&R Hall of Fame is anti-Chicago.
“It is anti-a-lot-of-things. Particularly metal.”
Corgan also provided an update on the Machina reissue and the new Smashing Pumpkins Christmas album.
“Small update: New fresh Machina transfers were made this week from the original reels and compared to a previous transfer from 5 years ago; and the results were promising enough that we’re going to carry forth and do the remaining reels. Also, we now have what of SP’s remains remain in the EMI vaults and so there is still some hope they hold the missing reels (as copies). So some progress there as well. And: I’ll be cutting some demos this week in anticipation of SP’s Christmas album.”
