Former Blink-182 singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge is returning to the stage for the first time since his final Blink-182 performance 5 years ago, as Angels and Airwaves have announced a show on October 5th at the House of Blues in San Diego. DeLonge has been on hiatus from performing live since his last Blink-182 performances on October 11, 2014 in Las Vegas. DeLonge departed Blink-182 in early 2015 when plans to record a new album fell apart, and he was replaced by Matt Skiba. DeLonge has stated that part of the reason he left the band was to pursue his interest in UFO’s and finding aliens. Angels and Airwaves have not performed live in 7 years. “The last show I played was in front of 100,000 people,” DeLonge said in a recent To The Stars interview. “And then they wonder why I’m not doing that now and I’ll say because this is the one moment in my life where I’ll be able to look back as an old man and say, ‘Oh my god, I was a part of the team that changed the world.’”

DeLonge also explained more about his grand aim to “change the path that humanity is on” – and how that drive was a major force in his decision to quit Blink.

“I wanted to make a quick message to let you know that, from the heart, I left my band and all that I was known for because this is the moment in time where I can change the world for my kids and everybody else’s,” he said.

“I would love for you to consider doing that with us.”
