Brian May Responds to Trump Using Queen Song

Brian May has spoken out after President Donald Trump shared a MAGA-themed video that used Queen’s song Who Wants To Live Forever without permission. The video appeared on Trump’s Truth Social account and showed a painting of Republican figures playing in an orchestra, with Trump as the conductor. The song was written by May.

May reshared the clip on Instagram and made it clear he was unhappy. He wrote, “It was recently posted using our music (without permission) on something called ‘Truth Socials’ by the current president of the United States of America.” He also noted that Instagram muted the audio in many regions because of copyright issues.

Brian May Asks Fans for Their Views

Instead of giving a direct verdict, May asked fans what they thought. He wrote, “Do you find this inspiring? Appealing? Appalling? Laughable? Beautiful? Despicable? Patriotic? Narcissistic? Inappropriate?” He added, “Do you think we, Queen, should object? Or applaud?”

Fan Reaction Is Strong

Many fans strongly criticized Trump in the comments. One wrote, “Freddie, Queen, and his legacy doesn’t match with MAGA.” Another said, “It’s sickening on every level. And using your song is blasphemy.” A third added, “Queen’s beautiful music has been sullied.”

The response shows that many fans agree with May’s frustration and do not want Queen’s music used for political messaging without permission.
