Bruce Springsteen Booked for Colbert’s Final Week
Bruce Springsteen is set to appear during Stephen Colbert’s final week hosting “The Late Show,” as CBS prepares to wrap the long-running late-night series later this month with a slate of headline guests.
The week of May 18 will include a Springsteen performance on Colbert’s penultimate show, Variety reported, with the network also booking Mr. Jon Stewart and Mr. Steven Spielberg for the week’s Tuesday episode.
According to the lineup announcement, Monday is billed as “The Worst of ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,’” which CBS clarified is not a clip show. Tuesday will also feature a special performance by Mr. David Byrne with Colbert, while Wednesday includes Colbert taking part in his “Colbert Questionert” segment alongside Springsteen’s musical appearance.
The guest list arrives as Colbert’s final show is scheduled to air May 21, and it follows the recent response to CBS’ decision to cancel the programme after 11 seasons. Alternative Nation previously noted the fallout after the announcement when Colbert compared the situation to Howard Stern during his on-air remarks.
CBS has described the cancellation as a financial decision, while ABC and NBC hosts Mr. Jimmy Kimmel and Mr. Jimmy Fallon have said their shows will air reruns on May 21 rather than new episodes in a gesture marking Colbert’s finale.
