BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Slams ICE, Tells Them to “Get the F*ck Out of Minneapolis.”
During a surprise appearance at Light of Day Winterfest in his home state of New Jersey on Saturday (Jan. 17th), Bruce Springsteen took a moment during the benefit concert to call out the Trump administration.
Introducing his 1978 song “The Promised Land,” Springsteen said: “I wrote this song as an ode to American possibility. Right now we are living through incredibly critical times. The United States, the ideals and the values for which it stood for the past 250 years, is being tested like it has never been in modern times. Those values and those ideals have never been as endangered as they are right now.”
Turning his attention to the controversy surrounding ICE and the fatal shooting of Renee Good by ICE officer Jonathan Ross, he continued:
“If you believe in the power of law and that no one stands above it, if you stand against heavily-armed masked federal troops invading an American city, using gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens, if you believe you don’t deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest, then send a message to this president, as the mayor of the city said: ICE should get the f*ck out of Minneapolis. This song is for you and the memory of the mother of three and an American citizen, Renee Good.”
“This song is for you and the memory of a mother of three, American Renee Good,” Springsteen concluded.
This is not the first time The Boss has criticized ICE. Last summer, he called the agency’s Los Angeles raids “disgusting and a terrible tragedy.”
Springsteen also made headlines for denouncing Trump during multiple concerts last year, saying that America is “currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.”
