Violet Bennington Details Hospitalisation, Treatment Stays

Violet Bennington, the child of late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, has shared a candid update about recent mental health struggles, including suicide attempts, hospitalisation and time in residential treatment. In a public statement, Violet described the past months as a difficult period marked by crisis care and ongoing efforts to stabilise her health.

According to Rock Celebrities, Violet said she attempted to take her own life twice in the same week last December, was taken to hospital, and then entered residential treatment, including a 40-day stay in Tennessee followed by another programme in California.

Violet also wrote that she was discharged from her first facility because she needed “a higher level of care” connected to an eating disorder and self-harm, and later faced further complications after a medication change that she said triggered a manic episode. She said she was subsequently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, alongside other conditions including PTSD and ADHD, and was placed on suicide watch before being sent back to hospital for evaluation.

Violet’s statement follows earlier public attention around her identity and name change after coming out as transgender, which we previously covered when Chester Bennington’s transitioning child changed name.

Chester Bennington died in 2017 at age 41, and his death has remained a touchstone in broader conversations about mental health in the music community. Violet’s disclosure adds a personal, contemporary chapter to that discussion, while underscoring the realities of ongoing treatment and recovery after acute crises.
